IONIC
CONTAMINATION SYSTEMS
Cleanless
testers
The ionic
contamination tester CT1000 has been designed to
measure in a simple and precise manner the level
of ionic contaminants following international
standard as Mil, Def STD, IPC et IEC.
This
kind of measurement is mandatory to check the
cleanliness of boards after a cleaning process,
or during some changes in a production process,
good inwards or for the approval of process,
boards or components.
The ionic contamination test is an
accelerated method to extract contaminants in few
minutes these contaminants could be discrete
during years depending of humidity and thermal
conditions, this method will push them to react
with the solution.
To achieve this, we use a blend of
deionised water with ultra pure iso propanol (propanol
2). Alcohol to dissolve compounds non
polar as the resin and the water to separate in
ionic form all polar residue and/or dissociable.
The combination of these solvents is a powerful
solution of cleaning capable to detect some
residues even after a very good cleaning.
The CT1000 is based on a tank where we
will introduce the samples, a cell conductivity
with thermal compensation, a pump, some valves to
switch from the Regen mode (circuit is in this
case : tank => cell => pump => tank) to
the Test mode (in this case : tank =>
cell => column/filter => pump => tank),
a column filled with a blend of resin (anionic
and cationic), a drain valve and an electronic
board to drive the system.
The cycle of the measure is the
following;
1. Check
the level of the solution in the tank on the line
placed on the windows(at the top of the left side)
Check also the density / temperature.
2. Regeneration
of the solution to be enough clean to be in
conditions defined in the different standards.
3. When we
obtain this threshold, we stop the regeneration
and we can introduce the sample and switch to the
test mode.
Analyse in real time, during
the test, we can follow the curve of the
contamination due to the extraction of
contaminants.
